Our Expertise in Pain Management

Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of painful conditions. Whether you’re experiencing elbow pain from overuse, hip pain from osteoarthritis or hip bursitis, or chronic conditions like sympathetic pain, pelvic pain, abdominal pain, tailbone pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, neck pain, hand and wrist pain, lower back pain affecting the cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacrum and coccyx; we have the expertise to help.
We also focus on musculoskeletal issues affecting shoulder joints, hip joints, hand and wrist components, foot and ankle joints. Our approach includes advanced techniques such as sympathetic mediated pain treatments like Stellate Ganglion Block and Lumbar Sympathetic Block.

Innovative Treatment Options

NY Pain Solutions is at the forefront of interventional pain management with procedures like Ganglion Impar block for coccydynia (tailbone pain), medical marijuana for certain chronic conditions under New York State law guidelines, anesthesia for comfort during procedures, ultrasound-guided trigger point injections for muscle spasms and tightness.
We also offer ultrasound-guided tendon injections for tendinitis and other tendon disorders. For those seeking cutting-edge options, we provide trigger point injections with platelets rich plasma (PRP) as part of regenerative medicine practices.
Our facility is equipped to perform Vertiflex procedures for lumbar spinal stenosis relief without major surgery. We also specialize in RACZ Caudal Neurolysis for scar tissue around nerves in the lower spine after previous surgeries. Percutaneous Discectomy is another minimally invasive procedure we offer for herniated discs.
For more severe cases requiring surgical intervention, our specialists are skilled in Spinal cord stimulator implantation for chronic nerve pain relief. Lumbar Endoscopic Discectomy is available for disc herniations causing sciatica or low back pain. Kyphoplasty can be performed to repair spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Services

To ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, we utilize diagnostic services such as EMG/NCS (Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Studies). These tests help us identify conditions like radiculopathy (nerve root irritation), peripheral neuropathy including diabetic neuropathy and fat pad atrophy of the foot.

Advanced Pain Relief Procedures

Our arsenal of treatments includes epidurals and facet injections for spinal arthritis or disc disease-related pains. Radiofrequency ablations are used to disrupt nerve conduction of painful signals. Sacroiliac injections target lower back and buttock area pains often mistaken for sciatica.
For patients who have not found relief through traditional methods or are looking for alternatives to long-term use of painkiller medications, we offer peripheral nerve stimulator implants that work similarly to spinal cord stimulators but target peripheral nerves instead.

What Our Customers Say

I come here with some neck and back issues for Pain management. The wait room is very small so they only sit patients in the main area. The family is expected to sit in another area. The wait time is so long for injections. Be prepared to spend most of your day there on an empty stomach. Dr Sekhar is the best. He consults you and answers any concerns you may have. After the procedure, they give you little juices. After sitting for awhile the doctor comes and evaluates your pain to see if the injection worked. You make your follow up appointment and you're done.

-Tajuana

I saw Dr.Kogan at Pain Solutions for my spinal stenosis. He administered epidurals with anesthesia, so Dr. Sekhar had to work on that which meant I had 2 md's billing. Oddly enough, when I received the same epidural from Dr. Kogan at his other location (NYU Langone - Forest Hills) where Dr. Sekhar did not practice, Dr. Kogan administered the epidural by himself without the use of anesthesia. There were no problem, and since there was no anesthesia to recover from, I was free to leave right away. I submitted my insurance information but they did not bother to get clearance. It turns out my insurance was only accepted at the NYU-Langone location. But I never received a bill.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

What qualifications should I look for in an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Look for a board-certified interventional pain management specialist with experience in treating your specific type of pain. They should have completed a residency in pain medicine, anesthesia, or neurology, followed by a fellowship in pain management. Additionally, check for state licensure and consider their approach to patient care, including the use of multidisciplinary treatment plans.
How does an interventional pain management doctor differ from other pain specialists?
FAQ Answer: An interventional pain management doctor uses minimally invasive techniques such as nerve blocks, steroid injections, and advanced procedures like spinal cord stimulation to treat pain. Unlike other specialists who may focus on medication management or physical therapy, interventional specialists are trained to perform procedures that directly target the source of pain.
What conditions do interventional pain management doctors treat?
FAQ Answer: These specialists treat a variety of conditions, including chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), neuropathic pain, and more. They often treat patients for whom conservative treatments have failed to provide adequate relief.
What should I expect during my first visit to an interventional pain management practice?
FAQ Answer: During your first visit, the doctor will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and may order diagnostic tests such as MRIs or X-rays. They will discuss your pain symptoms, previous treatments, and how the pain affects your daily life. Then, they will outline a personalized treatment plan.
How do I prepare for a procedure with an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Preparation may include fasting for a certain period before the procedure, temporarily stopping certain medications, and arranging for transportation home. Your doctor will provide specific instructions based on the procedure you're undergoing. Always inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you're taking.
Will my insurance cover visits to an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Many insurance plans cover interventional pain management treatments, but coverage varies depending on the specific procedure and your insurance policy. Prior to your visit, check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage, and confirm with the pain management practice if they accept your insurance.
